Urgh, turbulence! That lumpy, bumpy stuff that spills your coffee and upsets aircraft. “Why would I want to inflict more of it on yourself by going through this course?” we hear you ask. “I’m an ATCO, there isn’t much I can do for airplanes once in it!” we hear you say.
Well, think of this course as a little refresher on turbulence management and mitigation because turbulence is a big (and growing) threat to aviation safety and efficiency.
This course designed to help develop greater understanding between pilots and ATCOs, as well as other members of the aviation team, of the risks and challenges of turbulence, and to help improve management and mitigation of those risks.
By the end of the course you will:
- Have a greater awareness of the challenges and risks associated with turbulence
- Understand the challenges and requirements each role has in managing and mitigating turbulence events
- Have a greater awareness of how pilots and ATCOs can work together
- Be really scared of bumpy flights (optional, but not recommended)
